Horrabridge Rangers Sports Association is to hold a second parents evening on March 19th 2003 at 7.30pm it will be held in Horrabridge Village Hall

Points to be covered are: Child Protection, a Club Web Site, Insurance, Coaching, First Aid, Summer Football Tournaments, Fundraising & Sponsorship, Our Costs, Kit & Equipment and Charter Standard.

The junior teams have had very few games since the last news letter. Most of the games played during this period have been played in very cold, wet and windy conditions; anyone would think it was winter. This runs into a larger issue which has been banded about by the professional clubs of a winter break, which a lot of European Leagues already have. Some of our teams may find that when the clocks change they could have a small number of evening fixtures.

As the nights draw out we will be moving back to Fillace Park for training. It is a long time since some of you have been able to get close to our home ground. Our younger players may be feeling a little left out at present, but not to worry we will also arrange some friendly games for them.

During the summer Horrabridge will be holding our annual Football Tournament the dates for these are; Boys Under 9’s Saturday 28th June, Under10’s Sunday 29th June, Under 11’s Saturday 5th July, Girls Under10’s, Under12’s & Under14’s Sunday 6th July, Boys Under12’s Saturday 12th July, Under14’s Sunday 13th July. If you have any problems with this speak to your manager/coach.

Parents are a big factor in this club and we need your participation as well as your child’s.

Don’t let other people do all the work, become involved.

We do not want to become a drop off or crèche type club. We are a young and growing youth organisation which needs a lot of helpers, in many forms such as; helpers on match days, to put up posts, collect subs, wash kit, collect and move children to & from games or even fill in the team sheet to give the manager more time with the team.

You can always do a little more

The Charter Standard is a really important word in the Youth Football world. It says to people that you are a well organised, well run & well thought of in the area.

Only one club in our area has achieved the standards set by the Football Association.

To come in line for this we will have to draw up new codes of conduct for coaches, players, team officials, parents & spectators as well as a new Child Protection Policy. To help with all of this the team managers are attending various courses such as:

Level One Coaching, Level Two Coaching, First Aid, Child Protection, Motivation and Mental Toughness, Sports Nutrition and Training, Sports Injuries and Treatment of Sports Injuries.

You’re Coach or Manager does not just turn up on Saturday pick a team, play the game and walk away.

We are all working towards the same goal look at our motto and help
